Totaling *.wav files in a folder, and all subfolders

Asked By: Holly    Date: Mar 25    Category: MS Office    Views: 653

I am a beginner level user of Excel. I have
Excel 2002. I need to be able to count the number of .wav files in a
folder and subsequent subfolders. These files are downloaded on a
periodic basis, and I just need to be able to keep track of 'how many
wav files do I have within each folder'.

I am beginning to learn about the macros and vba, but thought asking
the community might be a quick and wasy way to start.

I also need to be able to count how many minute's worth of recordings
do these files  hold. For this, manually, I do a search for *.wav files
in a particular folder, and then play them in winamp, to see total
minutes.

Can a search and play be a part of the macro/vba code?

These are actually dictations from doctors, to be distributed to
Medical Transcriptionists. I just need to be able to keep track of the
minutes worth of recordings per doctor, and how many minutes have I
distributed to which person.
