record set access and record locking

Asked By: Diem    Date: Dec 27    Category: MS Office    Views: 754

I was wondering...

If I am using ADODB to obtain a recordset from a database, what
happens if users are on the database?

What happens if a form they are working in would be part of my dataset?

I only know a little about Access databases, and not sure how my using
ADO to pull recordsets on an active database would affect both any
code being run on the database and the database in terms of use by users.

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

If you do not understand Access then you need to talk to the person who
designed the Access application. There are a number of options for opening
and sharing Access databases  including options for record  and table locking
which might impact on what you want to do.

It would also depend on whether the recordset  you are using is an updatable
recordset or a snapshot.

You really need someone who understands Access and VBA to help you.

Looks like I will need to discuss with the database  builder.

Thanks!!
