Password Protecting Files

Asked By: Cathy    Date: Mar 13    Category: MS Office    Views: 888

I want to password protect some files, but the attorney on the project does
not want my name showing up, when the other people try to open the file.

I'm not finding where that information is stored. The message is: 'Name of
File' is reserved by Dawn Crosier Enter password for write access, or open
read only.

I want to change "Dawn Crosier" to Foulston Siefkin - or some other generic
name.

Any ideas? It's been a very long time since I have worked with this aspect
of Excel.

You can change  that info by going to>>
File>Properties

Would it work if you went into tools/options and changed the username to "A
Valued Microsoft Customer" or whatever, then set the password  protection then
changed the username back again.
