What needs to be fixed in Unbuntu to stop problems

I'm no computer guru, but I need something explained to me in simple terms.
I've had Ubuntu for awhile now with Firefox. Now every once in awhile the
Firefox screen or window gets a gray shade over it for a few seconds. Everything
locks up when I'm online. I can do other computer functions, but not online
functions. It does not do ti in the windoze part of computer which also has
Firefox.

What needs to be fixed in Unbuntu to stop it. I got all the recent updates for
bothe Unbuntu and Firefox.

Kept hitting send when I meant to hit something else on my phone keyboard...
sorry for the two partial messages.

What I think you are seeing is the computer getting "busy" and unable to
process anything for a few seconds. In Windows it is a change in the
appearance of the cursor to an hourglass, or an arrow and hourglass when
something is being processed in the background. That happens regularly in
Windows but it isn't quite as obvious since the screen doesn't change. You
still can't do anything until the hourglass becomes and arrow and hourglass,
at which time the computer will be pretty sluggish until the hourglass
completely disappears.

This isn't a fault and there is nothing that can be done to fix it, except
perhaps to upgrade your computer's processor and/or RAM memory.
