JBoss jBPM

Asked By: Rani    Date: Sep 20    Category: Java    Views: 1904

JBoss jBPM is a powerful workflow and BPM engine that enables the creation of business processes that coordinate between people, applications and services. With its modular architecture, JBoss jBPM combines easy development of workflow applications with a flexible and scalable process engine. The JBoss jBPM process designer graphically represents the business process steps in order to facilitate a strong link between the business analyst and the technical developer.

Since JBoss jBPM is packaged as a simple Java library, it can be used standalone in a Java program or with an application server like JBoss Application Server for highly scalable enterprise applications. By providing a flexible and robust framework for creating, coordinating, and monitoring business processes, JBoss jBPM makes changing complex business processes dramatically easier - significantly enhancing business agility.

As I knew JBoss jBPM is architected to run standalone or be seamlessly embedded within any Java or J2EE application  .

Profile
Project name: java business  process management (jBpm)
Project description: "jBpm is a business process  engine. It separates the business process definitions from the engine  that manages the execution. The process definitions are based on UML activity diagrams. jbpm  serves as an excellent integration platform because it's packaged as a J2EE-application. This means that it can run on any J2EE application  server like JBoss, BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere."

Project demo URL: http://jbpm.org/demo.html
Project download URL: http://jbpm.org/download.html
Operating systems: jBpm is platform independent.

JBoss jBPM only has a dependency on a JVM and a database. This feature makes it extremely flexible with respect to the environment in which JBoss jBPM needs to be deployed. With these simple  dependencies in mind, we explore how JBoss jBPM can be deployed in a standalone environment like e.g. an ant task, in a web application and as an EJB in a clustered environment.
