iTunes

Is there a way to install iTunes with Ubuntu on my Dell laptop? I have an iphone
that I've updated on my Windows PC using itunes, but I want to dump Windows.
Right now I just installed Ubuntu on my old PC, running it along side Windows
Vista. I can keep Windows, but I'd like to dump it.

Y'all helped me a lot in the past and I'm still lurking and learning and
appreciate all the questions that are asked and answer.

Simple answers to this one - currently there's no reliable way to get
iTunes working in Linux :-( I've read about varying degrees of success
installing through Play on Linux and Crossover but AFAIK it doesn't
work well.

iTunes has to be the last major hurdle to jump but it's more than
likely that if someone does it then Apple will quickly take steps to
break it by changing the way iTunes works. They have no desire to see
their premium services hived off to a free platform

iTunes cannot be installed as Barry has said. There are alternatives
though. You can manage music and music players quite nicely without iTunes
in Linux. I realize this is inconvenient since people often have vast
stores of music and time invested in them. You can transfer the files and
manage them with a Linux application and there are several music stores
that do support Linux. It is just a question of biting the bullet and
making the transition.

Apple is not Linux friendly. Even less so than Microsoft. They want to
create a dependency on them and Linux is for freeing the user. You either
buy into one or the other. There does not seem to be much option for
combining the two. However, there is some hope however distant. There is a
project similar to Wine called the Darling Project. (Wine is made to look
Windows in name but stands for wine is not an emulator. Darling is a play
on Darwin on which OS/X is based.)

This project has mind blowing potential. Imagine Photoshop running on
Linux. Also it is likely to be more successful than Wine because Linux is
closer to OS/X in terms of family tree. It is still in development.

Good to know. My contract is up so I'll dump IPhone for another kind of
phone. I guess they are called Android; got some research to do on cells. I
appreciate the reply.
