Has anyone had success with the ION slides2pc converter under
It is 'acquired' by M$ in XP and when tried in Ubuntu was not 'found' by
Xsane automatically. I also tried to 'acquire' it with GIMP to no avail.

I just bought the ION Film2SD and I have been digitizing 35mm slides. I have
used it on both Ubie 9.04 and Win 7.

I have been using the option to save the images to the SD Card. After a capture
session, I transfer the images from the SD Card to the Ubie hard drive using
file browser.

Then when I double click the .jpg files, they are opened by Gnome Image Viewer.

We both digitize our slides the same way,
tomorrow I will look into installing it under wine so that everything is
done in Linux and I will save disk space when transferring from windoze.
I think it needs its own special driver to copy slides.
I like Picasco for viewing/sorting them.

This Ubie stuff is all new to me. There are sooo... many options. With the
graphical interface, it is a lot like windoze. I just keep double clicking until
I find something that works. Most of what I use comes with the standard Ubie
distro (9.04).

I have not used Wine and I do not need to use windoze to upload the .jpegs from
ION SD Card.

Let me know if you have any questions and Happy Digitizing!

My slide converter works fine in Linux. It is not ION, but "it." It uses the
usb port for power and saves everything to an SD card. I can either remove
the SD card and insert it into the card reader or use the usb cable and
transmit them to Linux. It shows up as a usb file system and it is just a
matter of pulling the files off with a file manager.
