Astronomer

I just started messin with Linux last week. I've got The UUE loaded
and I am trying to get some of my astronomy apps to run. For those of
you that know of them I have The Sky 6 up, but I don't know if it will
run my mount yet (serial port) as I haven't got to try it. I also have
Maxim DL/CCD 4.11 running, but I have a problem that I'm trying to
understand. I am trying to get Maxim to recognize a USB CCD camera
(FLI) and it won't do it. I can look in the device manager and see it
connected up and it even has it labeled correctly, except it calls it
a caera instead of a camera.
Normally, in XP, when you plug the camera in to the computer it makes
a ka-dunk noise on the speaker and then it shows up in the "Connect
To" box of Maxim. But I can't get it to either ka-dunk or show up. But
I can see it. I am so close with this.
I installed Maxim with Wine and poked at it for a while then I wiped
the hard drive and loaded UUE and reinstalled it with Wine-doors and
Wine. It looks much better now.
I tried to load the windows camera driver from FLI and it puts the
icons on the desktop, but they won't find the camera either. Sounds
like a USB problem
